This video should be seen by all people of color. A cure for sickle cell is now available. It involves a stem cell transplant. The chance for an African American receiving a match within their family is only 14%. The other 86% must go outside their family for a matching donor. There are not enough African Americans on the National 'Be The Match' registry - www.marrow.org - Because we inherit our dna from our parents, it is likely that an African American will match another Black person, a Latino will match another Latino. Therefore, unless we increase the numbers of Blacks on the National Registry, African Americans will not have the same chance of survival as other ethnic groups. JOIN THE 'BE THE MATCH' REGISTRY. Go to www.marrow.org and take 10 minutes to save someones life. If you knew that a non-life threatening procedure for you, would save the life of a dying person, wouldn't you donate your stem cells?
