Friedman, shows why he is unsurpassed in modern times in defending liberty. He cheerfully decapitates the ideas of a government-controlled economy, over a wide range of examples. His layman's explanation as to how government intervention and the Federal Reserve control of the money supply helped cause the Great Depression is simply outstanding.

No idiot. It was Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the Community Reinvestment Act, and Congress which took subprime mortgage lending to a new level.

  • Didn't the free market cause the banking crises? That's what the people in politics that forced all those low interest no money down loans for the poor say.

  • I've had that interview on my iPod for years, thank God CNBC made a decent commercial, even if they suck in every other way

  • Phil looks so unhappy . LOL

  • Professor Friedman was succinct, emminently-clear, and an unabashed herald for the blessings of Liberty, Capialism, and the Free Market. Woe to us if his message is lost in time. The re-emergence of his thought now is more valuable than ever. Let us hope that it is not too late.
