Why do all people, regardless of religious beliefs, have the same luck? Why do those who pray not miraculously become healed or get what they want? Why is there no measurable effect on reality?

Could it be that these beliefs are not true?

  • I'm not one to argue and I'm not going to say that I've had miraculous things happen to me yet. But, I will say I have seen people healed of cancer and tumors in our very own church. Also, even non Christians cry out to God through prayer in there time of need because it is built in us that we need a savior from the sin and junk in the world. The only problem is that those who have not asked for forgiveness of their sins and acknowledged that their really is a God will not begin to see those pr

  • @CrossXillusions You just made an empirical claim. Do scientific trials and prove in a controlled setting that 'prayer cures cancer' because you would revolutionize the entire history of medicine by doing so.

You say people 'cry out to God in time of need because it is built in us...' What about the fact that God is just a construct of our culture and is placed in our minds by those who teach it to us? Babies do not cry out to god. Men cry out to god.

  • "If Jesus is answering your prayers, he should be doing a better job". LOL Well said.

  • You have to first define what prayer is. The way religious people usually pray is not effective. They pray by seeing themselves as weak and hoping that a man-made God will answer their prayer. What's now being discovered through the science of intention, is that feeling your wish fulfilled is the key to successful prayer or intention (which is a better word). You should read books by Lynne McTaggart (The Intention Experiment) as well as any book by Neville Goddard and Gregg Braden.

  • You really think that? Well obviously prayer is not heard by god unless you first humble yourself and ask for forgiveness. He is not going to perform miracles for those who do no trust or have faith in Him. Believe what you want but when it all comes down to it, I have nothing to lose, even if I was wrong (which I have NO doubt in my mind that Jesus is Lord.)

  • Well said! If there was any real effect from prayer at all it would have shown up in the world by now. With faith or without. And for those few who do succeed and get what they want in life, it's probably either good luck or determination and hard work.

  • Indeed

  • Quite right. Theists will tell tall tales about prayer and its effects, but those tales never survive scrutiny.
