At the age of 16 I somehow wound up backstage at a Marshall Tucker concert. While Firefall was playing their set, I started talking with Toy Caldwell. We struck up a freindship. Whenever they came back to town I was lucky enough to get to hang out with and get to know the man. I looked up to him in a big way. I could never get him to play guitar with a pick...the man played everything with only his thumb...But who was I to tell this guy anything...I was a kid...and he had hit records! This song is a well known one, and Toy recorded this on an old Sho-Bud.....By request. Thank you all so much for your letteres and comments...enjoy...Mickey

  • Hey Mickey- great job I love everything you put on youtube. I was wondering if you ever tried figuring out the pedal steel Jerry Garcia did on Sugar Magnolia on the American Beauty album- I would love to know how to do. I was also wondering do you use a tempered tuning?

  • I live in Birmingham! Do you give pedal steel lessons?!!!

  • Fire on the Mountain is such a great (Spiritual) song about evolution. It is beautiful.

  • nice video bro. I love the history more about how you got to hang with Toy.

  • @Singlpilot cool but you left out the instumental part in the middle !!!

  • sure like to hear more....you sound great

  • duped... but good job ! great job!!!!

  • I bet Steve Howe from Yes can play that thing.

  • Hi, I want to learn how to play the pedal steel. Would you suggest a Sho-Bud Maverick if I can find one versus going out and buying something like a carter starter to learn with? I've been watching them on ebay and I think I can get one cheaper than a carter and have a better instrument. What do you think? Also I have a request. Can you play Ernest Tubb's version of drivin nails in my coffin the way Buddy Emmons did in the live version here on you tube? Just a request.

  • This gives the mood for the song
