On May 29, 2010, the day before the Indy 500, I proposed to my girlfriend, Sheri at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the bricks.
I called Sheri one day at work and told her a client of ours at Formstack.com, Hare Chevrolet, gave my boss tickets to a Corvette event, but he couldn't make it. I also wrote an email explaining the event and had my boss send it to me so it'd look like it came from him. It mentioned that I would need to take the Flip camera to record some video so I could write a customer spotlight post for our blog and put up a video of it. Really I just wanted to be able to record everything. ☺
Sheri was under the impression that this was all for work and didn't have the slightest clue what was going on. She was just incredibly excited about getting to go to the event and didn't realize we'd get to drive a Corvette and go by police escort to take a lap around the track.
Chris Theisen from Hare Chevrolet was instrumental in helping me coordinate everything. He put me in touch with Chevrolet and IMS officials in order to get permission to get out of the car on the track.
Hare Chevrolet was kind enough to let me attend their private Corvette event which is strictly for owners, and they even gave me a Corvette to drive and let me keep it for the weekend after the event. I was absolutely blown away by their generosity.
It was also really cool to have Tony Kanaan personally congratulate us on our engagement. He's our favorite driver so that was just one more surprise I got to give Sheri.

Great video.......Would have been much better if you were able to drive the car at speed.

@motormanish Thanks for the comment! Yeah that would have been awesome to drive faster on the track but we were limited to 40 mph since there were so many vehicles. It was fun getting it up to 90 on the highway though! It's funny we got pulled over for "speeding" considering we were going around 20 mph at the time. :) Sheri just thought the guy was joking around with us.
