I remember going to see this show a couple times when I was younger in Las Vegas.. good memories :)

so...artists, musicians, actors, ect are being abused since they work to make people happy in order to survive? " but they have the choice as human beings to take that line of work, unlike animals who don't have that choice!"
These are cats, you cannot force a cat to do tricks if it doesn't want to. Go look up videos of how MOST cats act when you try and take them out on a leash. If these cats did not want to do this, or were afraid of what would happen if they did not... they would just run off

i am training my 2 cats to do stuff like this

@Bloodjoe30 I see - so rewarding a living being for doing something that is entirely against their nature, just to amuse you, is ok.
I guess next thing you'll say is that the cats are fed and kept alive so that's a huge bonus.
I don't agree with you and your logic is wrong, in my opinion.
Animal abuse can be on many levels.
The point is - we have no right to force any living being against it's will, and rewarding a performing animal with food is a poor example of being kind.

Let me educate you. In order to train a domesticated animal pet you must show your pet that they will be rewarded if they correctly do it. For example a dog treat or cat nip. Let me ask you something: If I told you to jump around in circles for 20 dollars would you? Yes, you would. Is it human abuse? No. Because YOU want to do it for the reward. Same thing with animals. Trust me no cat will do tricks for you if they don't want to, thus the cat WANTS to, thus not abuse. Bye.

@rokedetbamidbar,you want to know what animal abuse is? Volunteer at an animal shelter in a low income neighborhood, or at any shelter. I've heard stories of cats having their eyes poked out and people tying firecrackers to dogs tails, where the dogs backsides get so damaged that they have to be put to sleep. A cat jumping through a hoop or performing for a few seconds or even minutes in a family run circus, that has to comply with ASPCA rules for humane treatment of their animals is NOT ABUSE!!
Anyone who says these cats are abused has obviously never rescued a truly abused cat. Cats are not stupid, nor can they be trained by fear. When a cat has actually been abused, it will not let humans near it and will lash out if approached incorrectly. These cats would run immediately if they were truly afraid. I have two rescue cats right now. I've had one for two years, and he STILL runs sometimes when I try to pet him.

I saw this show in Vegas. At the end of the live show, Popovich tells the audience that ALL of his dogs and cats (well over a dozen) are from animal rescue and humane society. He said that the first step in training cats is to see what they like to do. Some climb, some jump, etc. Then you use LOTS of repitition to get them to do that "fun" activity. Takes a long time...
