We are learning this song in choir and it is so beautiful, I had to post it.

I would have had the piano accompaniment, it is so gorgeous! but I was afraid of copyright laws so I removed it.

there is 6 tracks, and 3 parts, I hope you like it!

lyrics:
There i sat on Buttermilk Hill
who could blame me cry my fill,
and every tear would turn a mill
Johnny has gone for a soldier

Me Oh My I loved him so
broke my heart to see him go,
and only time will heel my woe.
Johnny has gone for a soldier.

Ill sell my flax ill sell my wheel,
buy my love a sword of steel
so it in battle he may weild.
Johnny has Gone for a soldier.

  • Wait, are those forget-me-nots in the background? How fitting.

  • This is so depressing! (cheerful hyper look) But, (turning serious) really pretty. Who was this arrangement by? I might "subtlely" suggest it to my choir director.

  • We're learning this in music class. Beautiful version of this!

  • I love this version of it, we're singing it in my choir too! I love how the first soprano "loved - him" bit sounds like sobs. It's beautiful and so sad.

  • i sound better

  • ten girls tried out for this song when i was in the fifth grade and only four were chosen..and i was one of them!! loved it

  • I'm singing this song in choir, and I'm wondering if we're the only ones doing the extra little bit after the first 'Johnny has gone for a soldier'. Anyways, there are 80 girls in my choir. You are great all on your own! :D

  • @janiegirly07 Nine times good then, janie!

  • Kinda creepy

  • Lovely singing, but the recording is a little distorted. It could be so much more beautiful
