The foreskin is vestigial. The foreskin is nothing like the clitoral hood. Removing the foreskin does reduce chances of infection for some people. Yes, it's originally from a superstitious text, but that doesn't mean it has no value.
-
@Intranetusa Not true. The foreskin evolved for a reason. Granted, the head of the penis has probably required it less since men started wearing clothes, but it's there to protect the most sensitive part of the penis when it is not aroused.
Removing it is like removing the hood that covers the clitoris. Do you think you don't need that??
Circumcision serves no purpose other than to fulfill some bullshit, ignorant religious text.

@gocanada23 he has a point

@sacredshakti Perhaps it is that he is not allowed to take intoxicants, but that he chooses to on this occasion to help western viewers find Buddhism more acceptable. My view is that when people start to meditate all negative behaviours will fall away of their own accord. :)

i read the first page of comments and you are all wicky wicky whack :) can't you appreciate a good video and not bring up stuff completely unrelated?
-
@Intranetusa At least I'm not foolish enough to believe a foreskin is a useless piece of skin and that doctors take it away from boys because it is good for them.
-
So now you think scientists and doctors aer part of a global conspiracy to cut off our foreskin?
You are a fool and an ignorant conspiracy theorist.
-
@Intranetusa NO I AM NOT I MEAN THE FORESKIN WHEN I SAY THE FORESKIN. IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT PIECE OF SKIN. YOU HAVE BEEN DUPED BY STUPID MODERN SCIENTISTS AND DOCTORS TO BELIEVE SUCH A THING.
-
Uhh, totally wrong. The foreskin has absolutely ZERO function on human biology.
You are obviously confusing the useless foreskin with the testes or the balls.
interesting historical reference. Regardless, Buddhism is not about what an emperor granted them the right to do. Buddhism forbids the use of intoxicants... that is a basic basic teaching. Any monk that does that is not a monk, i don't care what an emperor told them they could do. An emperor is an emperor, not Buddha.
