Here is a basic demonstration on how you can use a laptop running Virtual DJ to put on a karaoke show. I am using a set of Pioneer CDJ-400s and a mixer to control the software but it isn't necessary. Whether you are a professional KJ or just a hobbyist having fun with friends and family you can pull off a professional sounding show using VDJ. I am a DJ so I use a set of software controllers for mixing music and videos as well. If you need help ask a question in the comments area and I'll respond.

As part of this demonstration I sing so if you can't handle people doing karaoke on the net, fast forward it through that part! lol..

  • its a whole different way to do that .. go through your lap top and do a dual view and hook up your lap top to your computer. that way you dont do no clicking or dragging

  • @nate4keys Thx bro. I explained in the video and to the countless people who have commented why I did it that way. I never do it this way at my shows. I always set it up for dual monitors (extended desktop) and assign the video card for the karaoke screen...

  • Hi dude, Me and a friend are wanting to set up a Karaoke business here in the UK, now I am up on music tech due to being a student studying it, but i never went into the karaoke side of things, this may seem a daft question but.. what type of files are the songs you use for karaoke and were do i get them from? Your song brought up lyrics.. were do you get those from?

    Cheers

  • @guypie Not at all daft my friend. You can easily "Google" karaoke and find out where in the UK you can get karaoke files or karaoke CD+Gs from. I buy karaoke CD+G discs and rip them to my hard drive. Look through my videos to find the 4 part series I did on how to rip CD+Gs into files playable on Virtual DJ.

  • @mrfaithfull1 First of all don't be a foo... Any DJ who has what he has yet has talent? That's all that matters... You must be young and naive. What you didn't see that I also own is a Serato SL3, an i7 MacBook Pro and QSC HPR 181i's with 3 way QSC HPR151i's stacked on top. This isn't a popularity contest or a contest on who has what, this is to help DJs who can't afford what I can afford... BTW my Toshiba cost 2 G's more than my MBP, What now nigga!! lol

  • Could you please explain using virtual DJ for karaoke simply on my laptop, I have all of my karaoke on an external hard drive & would love to use virtual DJ to run them. Your setup is awesome & appreciate any help you can give me. I'm using Vocopro, gateway laptop, & an Alto mixer. Thanks again for your assistance.

  • Virtual Dj of course is very cool, I have had it since they came out, as a matter of fact I still use Virtual dj 1.09 I bet u don't have that or go that far back. And u do come as arrogant and don't have half the equipment I do. None the less virtual does not have performers page, request page or next up page. I suggest u go with Sax & Dotty show hoster.

  • heres a better way to do video in VDJ ↓↓↓

    1. go in to config at the top of VDJ

    2. click the video tab

    3. see the output menu (click it it will drop down)

    4. elect your monitor/projector

    5. YOU DONE! :) :) :)
