@torridscene I agree-- I like few Joni covers but most of this albums interpretations are really good-- I really like the river,,,Tina Turner -- Edith and the Kingpin not so much-- I agree it deserved the grammy and was pleasantly surprised when it got it !

The note right at 5:06 is so gorgeous - it kills me every time

@unplugthis1 IMHO, maybe you can listen closely @ #t=03m00s, some familiar notes start there eh?
:)
I, myself think this is awesome, deeply thought notions make the song sounds magical but at the same time full of emotion and meaning. Amazingly lovely.

@Frisbieinstein - I'm with you! It plays great but where is Both Sides Now? Sure we got the right title on this track?

yes, and Edith & the Kingpin too !

This is a good example of deconstruction of a song. I mean that in a good way. Since the (original ) song is rather straightforward, both melodically and harmonically, it becomes perfect fodder for fantasia-like development. And yet, since the song is so good, it inspires, in a master like HH, the dreamy yet rigorous notions which are realized here. In the promo interview, Herbie says it's about the words, but this cut shows the musical composition matters too. The LP/CD deserved the Grammy
