  • don't worry, it's not very expensive and it's not an iconic instrument

  • I'd pay good money just to see the mark on the ceiling .

  • Paul, give it to me, I will take better care of it.

  • @SotR59 Or Page's doubleneck SG. But yeah I agree.

  • Watching this video, I can say I'm like Paul McCartney.

  • Does anybody know how many Hofners he's owned since the formation of the Beatles? I'm quite curious. I mean, I'm sure it's not the same Hofner he played whilst in the Beatles, but I wonder how long each of them have remained his active instruments.

  • "and whatever you do, don't hit it on the ceiling." I love that man! :)

  • i hit mine off rotating ceiling fan at band practice...

  • i got one recently for my 21st birthday, and i have hit it on the ceiling. Not dented, but the pain! my god!

  • @plangentmusic

Probably only next to the Strat Hendrix played at Woodstock.

  • That's funny. I just bought a bass today and had no sooner handed over the cash then did I smack the headstock on the top of the door frame. Didn't hurt it but it did leave a little while mark.

Plus I'm 6'4" so I often bang the ceiling if we're playing places that have a low ceiling.

  • Technically the hofner bass really wasn't that expensive, costing paul only £30. Although that amount was paid for the original 1961 violin bass which differed from this 1963 model in that those pickups were mounted together whereas this one the pickups are apart, not really sure how much he paid for this one or if it was given to him for free at the height of beatlemania (acquiring it during sessions for the beatles' "with the beatles" album).
