I hope all your guys's comments are from past macbooks. I hope they have fixed these problems. I don't want the same old crap that I had on my gateway PC going on with the Mac. I was going to mac to get rid of these headaches--not have even more.

I woke up one day and my trackpad was randomly broken. I'm not so sure it's worth the $1,000 to be honest. I mean, there's tons of cool programs and editing software on it but other than that it's not too special.
Do you know how to fix this?

took it to a service center and they suggested calling Apple directly since the shop would have to send it to them for special repair anyway. Apple told me to try taking out the battery and holding down the power button for a while to reset the power manager or something. I did that and have been using it for a while without problems.

Resetting the SMU solved this issue. I've been problem-free for months now. I took out the battery, held the power button for 5 seconds, put the battery back in, started it up, and it has been working fine since.

Did you migrate from Tiger to Leopard? My brother had this exact same problem yesterday wen he got his new MBP. When he did a fresh install and then a manual migrate, his MBP worked fine!
So, to fix this, backup your HD. Then, reinstall Leopard and manually move all your stuff over.
Hope this helps,

Yes sir. I did upgrade to Leopard. All software is up-to-date including the firmware. I have re-installed Leopard three times, replaced the entire keyboard/trackpad/case, formatted the hard disk, replaced all the memory...

Wow! Has Apple volunteered/you asked to have your laptop replaced? It'd be a pity if they didn't....
