On the Amityville Truth Board - www.amityvillefaq.com/truthboard - some discussion has taken place over the possible identity of this man. He was present inside the house during the paranormal investigations of March 6, 1976. On the History's Mysteries documentary he is identified as Paul Hoffman, but here George Lutz doesn't seem to know his name.

So it seems it is not Paul Hoffman after all, as George certainly knew Paul Hoffman -- Paul was helping Bill Weber write a book about the DeFeo murders and was one of the first people to hear firsthand from George about the haunting. Paul wrote a story about the haunting for Good Housekeeping Magazine (before "The Amityville Horror" book was released) and George Lutz sued him over it.

So if anyone knows who this is, leave a comment (or better yet, come visit us at the Truth Board)...

  • was it Robert Defeo?

  • What is this post about? I don't get it....

  • Maybe Lutz didn't mention Hoffman by name because of the article. It's better to seem indifferent to animosity.
