  • its NOT an electric car as GM would like you to believe

remove the gas motor and its an Electric Car for now its a "hybrid" but of course GM calls it with a fancy name "extended range electric vehicle" again using the term "electric vehilce" which is NOT If this thing is an "electric car" then what do you call the Nissan leaf or Ev-1 ???

diesel/electric trains are 100% run by electric motors yet they are not called "electric trains"

  • what you people do not realize is that nissians ev has a 10k hidden charge because its price does not include the price of the battery.

  • It's not an electric car, it's a hybrid which is very different. Volt travels first 40 miles in the mode of electric vehicle, and then uses range extender. This means that first 40 miles vehicle carries such a heavy useless load as internal combustion engine and electric generator of the range extender. That limits vehicle performance a lot since weight budget is one of the most critical for electric vehicle.

  • I am sure GM will lower the price to about $20K to stay competitive in the hybrid/EV market, till it gets enough market share and the mass-production effect kicks in.

  • TechAndGaming: Nissan responded to the Volt's "230" ad by stating that their upcoming Nissan Leaf will get an "equivalent" of 367 mpg, and it will be priced competitively with cars like the Toyota Prius.

The consumer demographic that is in the market for "eco" cars cannot afford the $40K Volt.

A wealthier consumer who's in the market for a high-performance "eco" car will go with the Tesla Model S.

GM is a depressing that takes billions of our tax dollars. Tesla Motors is an inspiring company.
