Swiss animal rights activists opposing the murder of animals for their flesh in 2007. For an hour the activists stood motionless and silent, dressed in black as a symbol of mourning, holding placards in front of them indicating the number of animals killed for meat:

55'000'000'000 (55 billion) animals killed every year.

4'600'000'000 animals killed every month.

105'700'000 animals killed every day.

105'000 animals killed every minute.

1'750 animals killed every second.

Without even counting sea animals.

It is time to abolish this mass murder!
