@thatguy0744 Also, if you're going to talk about "double tonging in tune..." Did you not hear Eruption? We triple tongued about 20 bpm faster and still played in tune.
-
@thatguy0744 I seriously disagree. Their book wasn't nearly as technical as ours, and they stood still damn near half the time they played. Not to mention they're an extremely top heavy corps that (I'm fairly certain) leaves their solo mics on for lots of stand still portions.
We won what we deserved in brass

LOL quote of the day!! "and there in fifth place!" lol pure awesomeness

@Silo29 Well, then that just reassures that the program isn't amazing like people say it is... Playing something in public and in uniform after barely rehearsing it? OK
Phantom's hornline is not a very good one as of late. Call me names all you want man, but that won't change the fact that they sound like poop, and in the video above they have terrible attacks, releases, and tonality. Not to mention they "didn't rehearse it."
Crown fanboy? Maybe. Crown member? Yes. Jim Ott winner? Yes.

Not bad at all. But if you want real "pitch perfection", watch Carolina Crown Hornline 2011 - Tuning and Chords. The tuba dissonance next to the last note is intentional. It's part of their show.
-
@IPhan4Life And, well maybe not every year, but they have played it many times before.
-
@Silo29 They play this song every year? It is called "The Lord's Prayer." I'm not dissing the song, it and Phantom are wonderful things. Obviously I enjoy them.
-
@generalducttape For one, no. The hornline did not. I assure you. Maybe one hour. Tops.
And who's hornline do you prefer? You a crown fanboy? Rad BD upper split?
-
@Silo29 For one, I highly doubt that they never rehearsed this number... It's memorized, and was at least the 27th of July: most horn-lines rehearse the things they play in public.
Even if not, the flam attacks and stuff are during their warm-ups. Poor attacks and holes are what I hear.

@WalkingYesterday Cool story bro, where do you march? And did you know that the hornline never rehearsed this number?
And the Lord said, "Let there be light;" as Phantom Regiment's hornline....

Stagger breathing? DGAF. Flamming every attack? Yeah it's part of our program.
