UK Television Ads from 1987:
One of the clips on this ADARCHIVE channel was recently removed by (according to Wikipedia); "an American media conglomerate with various worldwide interests in cable and satellite television networks, and movie production and distribution."
I am just an individual uploading these ads for the nostalic enjoyment of others. The social and cultural history contained within is priceless. I ask any lawyers working for such companies to bear this in mind before going to the effort of having these clips removed. If the free availability of adverts nearly two decades in age are such an undeniable threat to the livelihood of the companies you're acting for, at least have the good sportsmanship to let ME know what excerpt is causing offence. These clips may otherwise be lost forever and I appeal to your humanity to realise these clips might actually bring the companies you're acting for extra business, with people buying products they might have forgotten about.
I'd also like to think those of you working in the legal profession are of an age where these ads have some nostalgic value to you too and I'm appealing to your good humour in this plea. Thanks, Paul Davis (ADARCHIVE)

  • Thank you very much for uploading these adverts! It's great to look at all the campaigns that came and went over the years.

Also, could you help me? I'm looking for a specific advert, a kit kat one with an angel and devil. Do you have that particular advert on youtube, and if so wish video would it be under as I haven't found it yet. Thanks!

  • I know it's in the first 20 or so clips, sorry I can't be more specific! :(

    Thanks for your comments BTW

  • If someone gave me Tweed for Christmas I'd kick 'em in the bojangles.

  • Ouch!! So 'Cachet' (by Prince Matchabelli) is more your style then?!

  • Recognised a few other voices on the ads in this selection:

Andrex - with the voice of Geoffrey Palmer

Premium Bonds - with the voice of either Anton Rogers or William Franklyn

Dishwash Electric/Hotpoint - with the voice of either Anton Rogers or William Franklyn (can't tell the difference between the two)

Fanta - with the voice of Chris Tarrant

I will have a look through the other files you've catalogued so far and see if I can any more voices (or actors) I can spot :)

  • Thanks for that. Have to admit as this one was the first clip I uploaded, I hadn't at that stage decided to list every voice I recognised (only if I thought it was of notable interest). I'll rectify this ASAP and thank you in advance for your work col2006ie!

  • I watched all 109 advert videos on here from AdArchive from back to back and it took me 16 hours 15 minutes to do so from 6.00 am to 10.15 pm. Well done for such a great effort, AdArchive!

  • I thought Rumpelstiltskin was the goblin, not the beautiful girl who marries the king!

  • ads in the 70s and 80s used a lot of actors that usually atrred in soaps.another great paul, well done

  • The music on the Fox's biscuits ad is the same as the theme tune for the ITV current affairs series This Week, which ran in the 1960s and 1980s.

  • 1ST December 1987

  • Ha! just saw the Fanta AD! LoL Short ain't the word.

  • Hmm. I bet Emu liked ROD'S soft cheese! lol.

  • Did Elaine Paige even have enough hits for a Greatest Hits collection?! Great seeing all these again!
