Title:
Quantum Mechanics and Consciousness: A New Measurement
Summary:
Features of quantum mechanics suggest that, rather than passively observing it, our minds create reality.

This stuff is fantastic! More research into these phenomena is needed.
But, I am still an atheist about "god". There is no "god" or "gods".

so can we change our reality?

Part 4: When I go to sit in a chair, I don't wish or hope it's there. I know it's there. Why? Because the light bounces off the chair, hits my retina where it is converted into electrical signals. They in turn are converted into an image in my brain of what is ALREADY out there. I didn't create it. Did I? Isn't the chair just there? Already. In objective reality. Someone please help me wrap my head around this part of us "creating our reality". We create our spiritual reality, but our objective?

Part 3: Something has to be in objective reality for the interpretation chain of events to take place. If reality is only US coverting physical senses to electrical signals to electro-chemical actions in our neurons being interpreted by our brain, what initiates the process? Where are the outside influences coming from that starts the chain of events with our senses?

Part 2: To put it another way. Ted and Bill are looking at a bird. They see it and hear it. Suddenly, Bill is struck deaf and blind. Bill is supposedly creating that bird "inside his brain" from the light and sound waves being converted into electrical signals which are interpreted by his brain. For poor l'il Bill, that bird supposedly no longer exists in objective reality. My question is, why does Ted still see it? They were looking at the same bird so it must exist in objective reality.

Part 1: Concerning the mailed quantum coins. What if the two different recipients of the coins (the 'observers') want the same result? I know it seems like a simple question but I can't wrap my head around that part of objective reality being created in real time.

This talk has given me an insight into the debate about quantum reality, the underlying arguments. The point at the measurement of the spin being up or down (no matter which angle it got looked at from in the Q&A session) helped understand the strangeness at quantum level and the need of exotic explanations e.g. creation of a compatible past for the measured event..
