The last scheduled train ran on Tri-State Railway's Watchinson Line on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at 2:42pm. The train, led by GP9m 2201, had three cars, and caboose 557501 trailing. Removal of the tracks will begin immediately.
Many railfans braved the rain to catch the last train to operate over this historic rail line.
This REALLY will be the last train to run on my layout. Over the next week, the layout will be torn down to make way for a larger one, focusing on my version of the Lackawanna Cutoff. Benchwork will hopefully be constructed within the next few weeks, and the track from this layout will be temporarilary laid down, so trains can be run, until I get the "real" track that I will use for the layout. As the new layout progresses, I will post updates, such as the first train, completion of all trackage, etc.
This layout has served me well over the past two and a half years, and has been a very enjoyable learning experience.
Enjoy!
