  • i'm confused....you mean to say Django's Tiger right?

  • @xemosintightsx This is an improvisation based on the changes to Tiger Rag.

  • @davidrattray well, good news. all of those licks will pretty much lay over perfectly on django's tiger. even the last line in the progression is identical (D6/9, D#, A6/9, F#7, B7, E7, A6/9) etc. I'll post a video response later to show what i mean.

  • @xemosintightsx This video is of me improvising over the changes to Django's Tiger...so I hope that it would fit pretty well. The turnaround you describe is common in many standards of the day including I Can't Give You Anything But Love, All of Me etc...you can simply transpose the ideas.

Django's Tiger is itself a variation on the classic Tiger Rag.

  • yeah! Brilliant Dave. great impro! Was great to see you again at Charles De Gaulle and have a jam...take care and we'll see you again soon!

  • @havanaswingband Thanks lads, It was great to meet up and play with my old buddies and be 'FUNKY DAVE' again!

  • i really like your playing, actually i in some way i think you sound closer to django than him.

I went to a rosenberg trio concert and after half an hour it started to be a bit boring because stochelo kept on repeating the same phrases all the time in all the songs.

    cheers

  • Great Impro! 5*****

  • hey Dave, I'm glad to see the Academy paid off . . .. .nice Lollo turns in the melody! nice Fapy phrasing! cu in a few . . . .

  • I thinlk the timing could be better. But you have a good sense of dynamics and the impro is good. also your tone is pretty good. Great job.

  • Good job. You killed it!

  • @davidrattray i completely understand what you're saying. jazz standards are inherently repetitive, unfortunate as that is. but one does what one can to add variety (maybe change keys, add new rhythmic lines, off-beat improv, whatever else.) but for the purposes of showing improv on Boonstra's signature Fapy guitar :] you did just that. i just wanted to make sure i was hearing things correctly.

  • @xemosintightsx

dude i keep finding your comments on videos lol

  • Great playing on your guitar.
