Soap Opera Digest:
Michael David Morrison, who played "As the World Turns's" Caleb Snyder, was
found dead of an alcohol and drug overdose in the apartment of a female
friend on the morning of February 18. He was 33 years old.
Morrison's death resulted from "accute intoxication by the combining facts
of ethanol, cocaine and opiates," says Ellen Borakove, a spokesperson for
the New York City Medical Examiner. While the news shocked many fans,
friends who knew of Morrison's fast-lane lifestyle were more saddened than
surprised. "Michael was a kick-ass kid," says former castmate Ellen Dolan
(ex-Margo). "He had a great, big heart. But he also had a great, big devil
riding him." Michael Swan (Duncan) agrees: "He was an extremely talented
actor, and I am going to miss him. Unfortunately, he had some demons he
couldn't keep corralled. But he tried his damndest."
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Morrison attended Louisiana State
University, where he "took the theatre department by storm," according to
fellow LSU grad Chris Boneau. "He was very strong and handsome and fresh,"
Boneau remembers. "He looked like a soap star even then, and he drove all
the women wild." Besides good looks and talent, Morrison also had a James
Dean mystique, Boneau says. "He had that kind of charisma, but he also lived
fast. That was the sad part of it. I know he had a substance abuse problem."
Boneau says that Morrison's habit never hampered his acting ability. "He was
undisciplined, but so what?" he remarks. "He was a great actor with amazing
insight. He had an untamed quality that everyone appreciated. He also
directed me in a play. He loved the theater. It was such a part of his
life."
Morrison's commitment to acting continued throughout his life. "His methods
were sometimes hard, because you couldn't rehearse with him," says Yvonne
Perry (Rosanna). "But when it came time to tape, Michael was always there.
He was a dynamic force in every scene he did. He was one of those people
that you couldn't stop watching." Perry heard about Morrison's death on the
ATWT set. "I had to tape four scenes in the Snyder kitchen 15 minutes after
I found out that he had passed away," the actress recalls. "It was such a
sad thing. But I tell you, we never worked so fast. Everyone pulled focus,
and we were in and out of there. We thought, 'For Michael, we can't let this
affect our work. He wouldn't have wanted that.'"
Away from the bright lights and hard living in New York, Morrison shared a
home in the suburbs with his wife, Amy McDonald, and their two-year-old son,
Matthew. As much as he loved his career, he didn't want Matthew to follow in
his footsteps. "I don't want Matty to be an actor," Morrison told Soap Opera
Digest one week before he died. "I'll send him to the priesthood first. It's
a tough life."
While the future of Morrison's ATWT character is still undetermined, Graham
Winton is temporarily playing the role of Caleb. ATWT Executive Producer
Laurence Caso says of Morrison: "All our sympathy goes out to his family. He
was a respected and beloved member of our cast and will be truly missed."
My gosh, Terry Lester sure was hot!
Such a touching and powerful scene between Nancy and Dan.
What was wrong with Barbara? Was she pregnant? And why was Lily trying to "reverse her adoption"?

@ThorneAstor The reversal was Lucinda's punishment for withholding the truth about Aaron but mostly for knowing Holden was alive the previous summer and keeping quiet about it. Barbara was pregnant with Will.

At the time I had no idea what had happened to MDM. I liked him a lot as Caleb and never accepted a recast. If I'd known what had happened, I might have understood, but even then, I think that he really just was Caleb.
Julie the supermodel!!!
Moralizing Rosanna. Ugh ugh ugh.
What was wrong w/Lisa, and w/Barbara?
That scene w/Nancy and Mac is heartbreaking.
March 1993 turned out to be the beginning of the end for ATWT.
