I Cried For You - Rita Reys

The part where only Van Dijk is playing behind Rita was entirely improvised, she tells in her biography Rita Reys: Lady Jazz (co-written with Bert Vuijsje in 2004).

Recorded April 7, 1985 for the album Live At The Concertgebouw. In 1956 Rita recorded I Cried For You with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, for her album The Cool Voice of Rita Reys. The song was also performed by singers like Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan.
