This is why i refuse to holiday in Malta. Most of these birds are migratory and should have ended up in UK & European breeding grounds. Instead they've been shot at by a bunch of trigger happy b*stards!

I´m reading very strange reports about Malta. People there seem to kill birds by the millions, just for the fun of it. Now is that sick or what. Something must be seriously wrong with those people.

FCKN SICKOS IF U SHOOT A BIRD EAT IT OR USE IT DONT JUST KILL IT AN LEAV IT UNDER A ROCK

Id love to go and help these guys, Im thinking about doing it in batumi in Georgia, only thing stopping me is how horrendous it would be to see harriers/eagles etc shot like this. Wonder why theres a lack of turtle doves etc in Europe these days... its not jsut agriculture causing the decline

What are these foreign Hitlerian idiots doing on our land? Have they forgotten how much they bombed our island? And are they caring about birds and not about unborn children they kill during abortion??

The worst is that this gives coverage for many illegal hunters and for the shooting on other birds like the birds of prey you can see in this video. No one can monitor the actual quantity of killings.
People of Malta, go as often you can outdoor from Saturday 24th April until Friday 30th April 2010, when the awful hunting season is opened by the maltese government. Go hiking in our beautiful countryside, go cycling, go jogging, have a picnic, e.g. near some verdurers huts. Take your camera, take your video camera, take your field glasses, take your mobile phone. Be present and show these hunters that you are against bird killing!!!!

Sadly, the maltese government has allowed the spring hunting of birds again in April 2010. In contradiction to the European legislation and to the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice the govnerment will sell permissions to hunt in the period from April 24th to April 30th 2010. The permission will cost only 25 Euros and every holder is allowed to kill 3 birds. In total it will be allowed to kill 7.500 quails and turtle doves.
