Excerpts were taken from Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space. More specifically, from the episode titled The Great Demotions. I edited together the audio from portions of the audio-book and added the video from:

- BBC Horizon: Are We Alone In The Universe
- BBC's Charles Darwin and the Tree of Life
- BBC's Enemies of Reason
- Discovery's Into The Universe with Stephen Hawking
- History Channel's The Universe: Alien Galaxies
- National Geographic's Birth of a Solar System

The music is a mixture of songs from the Lost soundtrack, by Michael Giacchino: Achara, Glad To See Me; Here Today, Gone To Maui; and Oceans Apart.

The Carl Sagan Tribute Series will continue, please subscribe to my channel if you wish to be among the first to see my newest videos.

  • one downvote - must be the pope...

  • 8:14 all religious people, stick that in your pipe and smoke it! Carl Sagan is the closest thing to a god for being able to admit the possibility of himself being wrong. he deserves more respect than any preacher or pope ever has or ever will.

  • @evilyig sad thing too. People who say it is "only a theory" do not understand the basic operations of science. Theories explain why; laws explain how.

  • @Cietru John Paul endorsed evolution. The new pope has once again argued that it is "only a theory".

  • Carl Sagan, what a man!!

  • @FriScho actually pope believes in evolution(though he believes it is guided by god).Creationism is a cancer mostly found in America

  • @ 05 : 46 what does the T stands for ? huh ?

  • Wish you were with us Sagan. We discovered over 2,000 planets ..Some of them are earth size planets

  • @FriScho Looks like the Pope has been joined by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron!!

  • @Brygelsmack Moreover, one of those world is believed to be a world with oceans on it.

  • the perfect voice, knowledge and narration that a scientific promulgator need had.

  • Three planets by the time he recorded this... Carl Sagan would have been happy to know that by the time I'm writing this (26-02-2012), we have discovered 759 exoplanets beyond our solar system. A number that will continue to grow every month of every year to come. Maybe one day... we will visit one of these worlds.
