Have you ever dreamed of being waited on hand and foot? For the past six years, Lakshmi has been doing just that for her employers—virtually unnoticed. That is, until one of Lakshmis employers begins to film her daily life on the job in Mumbai, India. In a deeply personal portrait, the film takes a hard look at the Indian caste system, gender and class relations.
In this clip, Lakshmi finds out her pregnancy is going along well despite the fact she has stopped taking medication to treat her tuberculosis.
LAKSHMI AND ME premieres Tuesday, March 24 on Independent Lens, a weekly series airing on PBS. Hosted by Terrence Howard, the acclaimed series showcases powerful and innovative independent films. Presented by ITVS, Independent Lens is broadcast on PBS stations nationwide.

Wow, this documentary was so good! My stupid DVR cut off the last 15 minutes and I didn't get to see what happened to Lakshmi and her baby. I hope they are both well.
