This selection was entitled "For Phillip and Django" .It was not on the Restful Mind Lp of 1975. The original recorded verson of this selection was featured on the "European Impressions" album on Arista/Novus. Half of the LP was recorded Live at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in 1978.

I was playing the "Live at the Village Vanguard" album and my then roomate asked me who I was listening to. I commented Larry Coryell. My roommate said "never heard of him"? I stated, yeah, that's why you think Stevie Ray Vaughn is so great, because you never have heard of Larry Coryell.

I bought a book in the '70's and I believe there was a transcription of this - called Blues for Stephane & Django, maybe? Look around and I bet you can find it. Ciao.

have fun, lol, your friend should just play in the style of a few guitarists then ask him to improvise and it will sound better than trying to imitate a free improvisation by someone else.

I believe this is from the time of the Restful Mind album c1974~1975 in which the group Oregon backed him. I highly recommend that album if you have not heard it all. The entire album is a masterpiece. There are no disappointments. Find it and buy it soon! [I still have two perfect vinyl copies I bought new in 1975.] *From that LP, see the track "Julia La Belle" here in youtube. Larry is par excellent and plays like a modern Segovia!

Very nice. I think some of his best playing and inventive compositions came from this time period.
