Talking privately to a workplace bully is the WORST advice I can think of. We're talking about BULLIES...they'll turn that around on you so fast it'll make you're head spin. That's the whole POINT!!

Bring a tape recorder and record the abuse, several instances before you act.

If you have a toxic co-worker or manager who is obnoxious and you're going to lose no matter what you do, - including documented complaints to HR - bring a hammer to work and beat the shit out of him/her the next time he/she comes to your desk (make sure they come to you, not you to their office). You'll get fired, and you'll get arrested. But plead insanity and extreme stress. Also sue the company and do everything possible to bring bad PR. You' ll see how fast they will settle.

Glad we have an Employee Council at the company I used to work in. No one was above anyone there. We could voice out our complaints about our managers, co-workers or anyone.

HR is management's representative. Why don't people understand this! If you want to get fired, going to HR is the quickest way to get there.

It's usually a loser situation for the one being abused. If you're going to quit because you're being mistreated, go down in a blaze of glory -- as long as you don't go to jail over it.
