Seriously kids, listen to Alex's folks. Just get high school out of the way, you won't regret it in the long run. College is entirely optional, but lack of a high school degree WILL bite you in the ass one of these days. I've know many proud musicians who said "Fuck school. All I got is music man...." and ditched when they had a few months left of school. And every one of them that I still talk to has agreed it was a mistake.

Alex actually DID stay in school. Graduated grade 12 with honors.

@MarkRiches Yes, this is real. If you watch Come On Children, you'll learn more about Alex's teenage years.

is this real? I'm watching the film just now and I got to this point and I was wondering if this scene is actually real, or is that a dumb question? It seems so real, but...obviously they wouldn't have this camera crew in their home when Alex was a nobody :P right??

In the beginning of my Sophomore year, I wanted to do exactly what Alex and a lot of other famous musicians did. (Almost finished with Sophomore year)

alex got really lucky as far as ending up in a huge band making huge bucks is concerned. but there are thousands of kids who did what he did and ended up on the streets. I fushow won't do what he did.

he's something, al right

I can see a lot of Alex's mother in him. x]
In a way, becoming a musician was the greatest thing Alex has ever done. He wouldn't be one of the greatest, if not one of the most underrated, guitarists in rock, and a member of perhaps the greatest band in the world. Rush actually inspires me to stay in school. <3
Why were they doing what looks like a reality documentary on Alex before he was in a band or famous? I find it odd that a professional cameraman is recording a random Canadian kids dinner conversation. lol
