Dear All,

This April-May we went to the land of the Long White Cloud....Aotearoa as it is called in Maori. - New Zealand.

The word "Picture-Postcard" would be an understatement when one has to describe the beauty of New Zealand.

I believe that the creator delivered his best in this place.

This Video is about one of the top things to do while you are here.

Riding the Tranz-Alpine railway.

The TranzAlpine Christchurch to Greymouth, is rated as one of the worlds great scenic railway journeys. Coast to coast.

The TranzAlpine scenic train journey travels between Christchurch and Greymouth, from one coast of New Zealand to the other. From the train one can see the fields of the Canterbury Plains and farmland, followed by the spectacular gorges and river valleys of the Waimakariri River.

It is the climb to the Southern Alps that leaves the viewer spellbound.

The train has a open air viewing carriage which allows the viewer to get up close to the stunning scenery and provides many opportunities to photograph the favourite spots.

The train journey sets off from Christchurch - New Zealand's largest city on the South Island. The trip is 223.8 kilometres long and takes just four and a half hours. There are 19 tunnels, and 4 viaducts, the highest at 73 metres.

The TranzAlpine makes one return journey every day.

We travelled upto Arthur's Pass - the highest pass in the route.

The eastern side of the divide is characterised by wide, shingle-filled riverbeds and vast beech forests. The western side...where wet weather is more common than dry, has deeply gorged rivers flowing through dense rainforest.

Down the middle of 'the great divide' is an alpine dreamland of snow-covered peaks, glaciers and scree slopes.

I would like to go back and the do the route one more time... it is that good !!

will upload the rest of the stuff soon

regards
hari
