Sorry, I don't understand the advantages of this over every other type of IM client.

@naryanr traditionally IM clients provide 1-to-1 communication. This allows for that, as well as group communication. Of course if you prefer IM, that's cool. I just like IRC, and I've been using it for at least 12 years now.
