This was made as a thank-you and a video response to Ji61m's video he made and posted today for Frida's 1982 version and for providing me with a copy of Donna's version she recorded in 1981 that I had long been seeking. I know it's horrible, as each version was in a different key. But, Jim, I think more highly of you than this, really.

  • This mix absolutely is not nice to listen to. I prefer Donna Summers version, that one has much more emotion and expression, both the singing and the music itself. In this mix Donna sounds horrible though. Both versions have to stay separate from each other, if so they r both ok :P

  • It's this kind of response that I expect to get. The ones who say the enjoy it... well, they kinda throw me. I mean, it's nice, but I have to wonder... But thank you very much for not liking it and being nice about it.

  • Christ! That was disturbing. Felt like an acid trip.

I was reminded of the end of the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields". Discordant. Unsettling.

  • That would be the response that I would expect, and I don't think any less of you for feeling that way. Thanks so much for the comment!!!

  • I love Frida... i prefer the "solo version"

  • Yeah, this was pretty bad, wasn't it? I prefer Frida's version, too.

  • Love this!! And love this song! Thank you. Donna's vocal made this performance tolerable. It really was a cool touch. Donna has an amazing way of making a song sound timeless. I like Frida's version, but you can tell its a cheesy 70's production, musically and vocally. Donna's version still sounds fresh today.

  • the bagpipe solo was the best part

  • Thanks. Actually, watching/hearing this made me curious about "Strawberry Fields Forever". I ended up watching the video for it and reading about its history on Wikipedia. I do find it unsettling to listen to it, but it's also highly intriguing to think about all that went into it.

  • oh yes...

  • Donna Sumer isn't necessarily here.
