yea i find that the same with my akg240 the newer ones than yours. you need something with a little more power in some cases my friend with the same headphones built a mini altoid amp. apparently works well with the iphone

I've tried using mine with my ipod and I noticed that the volume was a lower than when I used my regular headphone. They work best when used to monitor.

Although these were Discontinued, AKG upgraded the 240's and can be found as AKG K240 MKll which fixed that little "clip" with the bassy stuff you mentioned aswell as overall sound.

For anyone interested in these Cans I Highly Recommend Them.

Good choice. I have a pair of K240 Monitors from '81 that still sound great. Enjoy!

You can use the headphones with a music player but I really don't recommend it. I tried using it with my ipod and the volume was really. They better for studio purposes.

I really like mine. These are my first pair and so far I'm pretty pleased. They're really comfortable and the sound and really clear. The only thing is they do they do clip a little with really bassy stuff.
