I don't think this is a good explanation. The first examples he gives are hasty generalization and non sequiter (for Bush). A straw man argument is when you argue your opponents case weakly so you can more easily take your opponent's argument apart.

I guess the Bush one is a straw man argument---but I am not certain that it is the clearest example. Wikipedia has a good article on this.
