Blunty takes a look at SONY's new NEX-C3, the newest in the popular NEX line of ultracompact Interchangeable E-Mount lens cameras

"Enjoy interchangeable-lens creative freedom and SLR class image quality in a stylish, ultracompact package you can carry anywhere. Featuring HD movie recording and Sweep Panorama for effortless panoramic shooting."

"Be pleasantly surprised by the stylish and ultra-compact NEX-C3 that delivers imagery that belies expectations of a camera its size. Be impressed by ultra-sharp DSLR quality images with its Exmor™ APS HD CMOS sensor and BIONZ™ processor. This large sensor used also in Sony α system DSLR cameras enables truly amazing image quality with less noise in all shooting conditions, including low light."

  • I can see the charm of this but for people who don't always carry around a tripod the tiny size of the body and the ratio of body-to-lens weight distribution will make most critical handheld shots more difficult that with a DSLR. Don't get me wrong, its got it charms, but i'll stick with my D3000

  • @U23Drocs I can understand why you would make that assumption, but as a man who spent a week shooting with it, it's actually not an issue, the balance is different to my DSLR yes, but it didn't actually hamper my ability to get handheld shots in any conditions.

  • Might have the same specs or better (without the mirror that is) than say a comparable Canon SLR like the 60D. Thing is, the lenses just can't compare with the variety Canon offers.

  • @hattrickster33 Well I've got good news.. you can still use all those Superb Canon Lenses on this ;) You even have the same crop-factor since the APS-C Sensor is identical in size to the on in the 60D!

  • Blunty, have you ever tried Sony NEX-5. If you have, could you tell if you can notice any significant difference in picture quality between it and this new NEX

  • @Jucketsx The main difference is feature-set, not image quality. Although the new upgraded sensor chip in the NEX-C3 is both slightly more sensitive & has ~2 extra megapixels. If you're looking to UPGRADE your NEX-5, I'd wait just a little longer for the upgrade to the 5 (C5?), or the even "more pro" (not quite officially confirmed), NEX-7 which is supposedly in it's way.

The NEX-C3 is a *fantastic* jumping-on point, but I don't see it as an upgrade path for existing NEX-5 owners

  • Bloody good review. Its a plastic body though isn't it? Also, can you control the aperture, exposure and iso in video mode? Very important for me. Thanks

  • Thank you so much!

This Review helped me a ton :)

  • This was by far the best review i have watched on youtube. THE BEST. thank you!

  • Finally a review which is informative and has bucket load of example shots! Thanks

  • @Pennybear0302 I can agree**

  • I just got this camera recently, I can I am a noob, and been a cyber-shot user for the 7 years. I wanted to upgrade to a canon rebel T3, but found this camera. I had to give it a go, and bought this on a whim. I was feeling a little buyer remorse for not getting the Canon, but your review has put me at ease. I feel I made the right choice. I wanted something easy, and I am glad to know that it will suit my needs.

  • sony nex c3 or nikon 1 j1?

  • best review for this camera...*like =)

  • lenses of nex system are so shit that i just prefer to use a good compact camera, there is no big difference. Unless you prefer use manual lenses with adaptator, dslr are far better.
