Nashville Tribute, a country band that plays Mormon music

REXBURG - The seven member band consists of successful Country artists who all have a story of how they came to fame. Jason Deere has written songs for LeAnne Rimes and even Jessica Simpson.

"I think it's raw and simple," said Jason Deere, the producer.

These three artists are currently ranked 8th on the GAC Top 20 as a band called Due West.

"The secular music opens up doors that we wouldn't be able to get in if we were just doing LDS music," said guitarist Matt Lopez.

All of these artists came together to give a tribute to Joseph Smith.

"Music has a special way of reaching people, a lot more than the spoken word. Because the message is important, life is hard for people. And we come and do these things to share and uplift people," said Mindy Gledwill, who does vocals.

"If there's any story I love more, is the people that haven't been active in the church for a long time that come to our show. For whatever reason, they come back," said Deere.

And while some come back to their faith, others just come for the country music.
