Nice to see this tribute again.. I was fortunate enough to be able to call Ray friend, we met in the 90's in Europe and kept in touch, bumping into each other in the strangest places.. He was a true artist and true gent. He will always be missed.
Did a little western tour with Ray when I was with The Deadcats - was a bit curious as to how his crowd would take to psychobilly. Shouldn't have worried - it was great - we had greyhairs and kids alike danccing to both bands all night long. He told us a great story about getting off of a speeding ticket in BAnff by signing autographs for the Mounties. They were really impressed to have met Stompin' Tom. Really miss the big galoot.
I'm still holding back sobs. Ray, Ray, Ray I miss u everyday. You were a Huge part of my life, from the time of Chinatown and forever onward. I'm grateful u were my neighbour, my friend, a viper, my art talk pal, and the glue that united a Beautiful, Crazy, Talented, bunch of Hillbillies. We are not the same without you. xoxo Blanco
I saw him and his group a couple times up at the Marine Club in Vanc. Gosh, what a great show they put on. I had the pleasure of him visiting my shop as well, What a great performer and human being.
Sure miss the live performances and I was saddened to hear of his passing.
Nice of you to post these treasured moments, RIP Ray, his magic will live on forever!!
Saw Ray and the Gonners numerous times in Montreal when I lived there. Those dates were part of the fond memories I hold of Montreal. My relationship with the band goes back when I used to play music with Eric and Peter in the pre-Ray Condo and the Gonners days when Eric and Peter were woodshedding. My hat goes off to their success with Ray.
I wish you would post some of those songs/video or make it available for the rest of us:} I never had the opportunity to see him live but love his stuff.
The loss of Ray was a real blow, the void he left is still felt.

I saw Ray perform several times during the 90's at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard, Seattle.
They always rocked the house and I consider those shows among the best ever.

I was thinking about doing that. I have to learn how to do it first so keep an eye on this space.
