The evil that has been committed by the church in the past and even in the present day is committed by those who do not follow the teachings of the church - be they laity or in the priesthood. @deshaun182 The Catholic Church survival comes from the promise of Jesus that no gates of hell shall prevail against her (Mat 16:18). As for idolatry, read Eph 5:5 and Col 3:5 and make sure you don't have those kinds of idols. No idolatry in the Catholic Church. You are to read the scriptures in OT about idolatry IN CONTEXT.

@deshaun182 God's representative you muppet. Just as Moses was gods representative to the hewbrews. Read Numbers 12 and see how God treated the protestants of Moses' day who exclaimed "Does not God also speak throught us?"

God gave power to men to forgive sins. Thats what God does. It is his pleasure to involve those he loves in his divine work.
