@Admdavidk WNEW was owned by Metromedia and on Channel 5 until good ole' Rupert Murdoch got his paws on Channel 5 and made it better in some ways (bringing the NFL, baseball to the channel), and ruined it in some ways by making it WNYW and an affiliate of "FOX", which means the abolition of any genuine, civic-minded local programming and high concentration of programming geared in one fashion or another to reinforce social darwinist ideology.
