@Greginda11 I live in Ontario and our provincial govt at one point was the conservative party. and the health care during their era was disastrous. Cutbacks on every single level including firing of very qualified nurses. I am not saying that the liberals are good at managing health care but during the liberal era of federal politics we had sustainable funding for health care and every province was successfully able to sign a health care accord which expires in 2014.

@Greginda11 lets check the history shall we? Remember R. B. Bennett and his disastrous handling of the great depression and not to mention Mr. Brian Mulroney and his disastrous handling of the Canadian economy which the Liberal successfully cleaned up. and BTW you did not provide anything to support your views. what you are doing is relying on an instinct and there is no room for it. next time before you speak do some research. If I can do it so can you.

@sabbirsa yes the liberals did a good job managing the the country finances sponsership scandal aside. however just because that part can do it doesn't mean that the conservatives can't, I will wait and see what they have done with the economy in 2014, if they waste, bring up deficit than we have a problem, however i think that there needs to be changes to healthcare, but i don't think ANY party is willing to make those changes needed... that goes for liberals, conservatives and NDP
-
@Greginda11 also the liberals did inherit a huge deficit from the mulroney era which they had successfully turned into a surplus and sustained that for a decade. not to mention their efficient bank and financial laws which saved canadian banks from the recession.
-
@Greginda11 also I find your comment about health care incredulous. Harper is he same individual who at one point ran a citizens group who were against the universal health care system in canada. either you are ignorant or maybe you don't know how to research. also He is doing the same thing the republicans did. He is cutting that amt of money to the oil companies in Alberta (which happens to be his riding lol). Anyways ciao.
-
@Greginda11 we do not pay a lot of taxes. in fact we have the lowest tax rate amongst all the OECD countries. and the deficit started long before the recession. In fact the deficit started to come across after the 2% cut in GST which actually did almost nothing to avg family and household. The recession helped it o up a little. That is all. and the fact still remains that the reason why our banking industry remained unaffected by the recession is b/c of the regulations during liberal era.
-
@sabbirsa Several problems, first of all there was the world wide reccession which hit canada, that contributed to the deficit. Second, he is cutting programs in certian areas (not medical) but corperate taxes including a 315 million cut to the oil companies. Your trying to paint Harper as a republican, name 1 republican who says to cut tax breaks to the oil companies! yes there is a deficit canadian alrealdy pay alot of taxes, it's time to reform healtcare (NOT remove it, reform it)

Harper is a big cheat who wants only to make Canada more like America
Ignatieff wants to raise taxes 2 years ago!!! Times have changed
Layton, he is a nice guy but he is not fully ready to run a whole country, maybe the opposition leader first.
Elizabeth may will never ever win
Marijuana Party, if only the could be legit

Taxes are a requirement. We have to stop pretending that having the essential social services covered will not come with a price. If you are in one of the top tax brackets you should pay more. Anyone that makes you believe that living on half of $250,000 a year is difficult, should leave the country. When a family spends as much money a month on their credit card as some families live on for a year, then we are not living in a balanced society. Plus look at your provincial tax grabbers.

I love it how the Canadians Against Higher Taxes are not willing to pay extra taxes but are willing to pay for the production of an attack ad that we already know bout
"We will have to raise taxes" - to deal with the massive amount of debt that's being racked up to get us out of recession, is the full context.
Perhaps you'd just like to run deficits forever and let our kids deal with it? Or perhaps you don't want to try to get out of recession?
