@DJBelbe oh i know, looks should be the last thing ANY breeder should be looking for but when it comes to showing a dog nowadays, looks are everything. Which is the main issue. A lot of today's dogs don't even look ANYTHING like what they first looked like, the biggest example i can think of is the Bull Terrier. And you're right, Siberian Huskies aren't at all what they used to be. It's a sad place we live in, people just money hungry barely thinking about the health of dogs :/ .. disgusting.
@Jal1515 carefully selecting for what is the big question. Anyone who knows anything about genetics knows that when you select for one charateristic you are bound to drag genes that may be undesirable. Primal concern should go for general health and secondary to phisical appearance. Even Sinerian huskies are showing more and more inheritable problems these days when a few decades ago they were one of the hardiest primitive breeds around! and that was because the were bread for overal performance
we should only breed the healthiest, meaning physicaly mentaly and emotionaly healthy. =] that way there wouldnt be dogs with all these problems. the show ring should change.
too inbred.. any dog that is inbred should not enter a show or breed to any dog that it is closely related too.. only carefully selected line breeding should be kept to reputable dog breeders.
