@sonshound : you - or Taylor - just explained what happens to me when I play music. And many of the finest songwriters describe their "gift" as being a gift given to them. One songwriter (can't remember his name) said "The songs just float by the window and he reaches out and grabs them." Thanks for the fine reminder and the beauty of your words describing this poignant song. Wonderful.

JT: for forty years, author of some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard; poet of my very own soul; survivor of the "music industry," conqueror of his own monsters; and by every account, a kind, good man. What an oasis in this wasteland of filth and "divas" de jeur.

I love this song. James Taylor at his best. The DVD is great

A fine gentleman, 20 years ago I was assigned as a body guard for him at a whoppin 8 dollars an hour. I felt like I was paid 100 an hour when he stopped and had a beer with me at the hotel. Like I said a gentleman.

I knew I should stay
I knew I would go
Simple. Perfect.

James maintains that he doesn't write his songs....he just writes them down when they're sent to him. (for what it's worth....his words, not mine)
That being said....this song is so beautiful and touching i get choked up every time i hear it.

This song is one of my favorite songs my J.T. It takes on a meaning for me that quite cant be explained here ---like a certain fragrance of something one may smell---it may have a smell that no one else can appreciate.

My Favorite! And I know them all.
JT has spent the last 45 years writing beautiful music -- how does he keep doing it? Must be the grace of God.
