During the fifth set of the 1995 Australian Open Men's Singles quarterfinal, Pete Sampras (USA) suddenly became emotional and fought back tears on court as opponent Jim Courier (USA), commentators and fans alike wondered what had overcome the star American; it was later revealed that coach Tim Gullikson was battling cancer.
