@golfcharlie232 thats awesome! great to here that not everyone allows the AP to fly the whole way down!

@golfcharlie232 Great! You are lucky ;)

@SavaMarkovicPilot Yes, this was raw data, you can see the Flight Director bars are turned off in this video. ILS raw data are no problem either. Only case where we really want to use all the automation is in busy airspace, around London particularly.

@golfcharlie232 That is great hearing companies allow that these days! I read on pprune that many of them prohibit hand flying pretty much. Do they allow raw data apps in your airline?

Pretty looking sky! That co-pilot really pumped the speed up on that autopilot!

The video it self gives the feeling that its pretty loud in the flight deck, with all the fans running, and wind noise, as a pilot though, is it actually as loud as the video makes it seem to be?

@aviator147 It is pretty loud but we use ANR headset which cancels most of the engines/fans noises.

@golfcharlie232 ..oh wow?! most videos ive seen, the pilots are just wearing little earpiece type headsets, i used Zulu2s for example when i fly in piston aircraft, didnt know you guys needed those too

@aviator147 Most of us use Sennheiser headsets, in particular the HMEC 25, 26 and 46. Some use the Telex 850 which is very light and has less noise reduction. A few use general aviation headset (David Clark ...). But yes, most do wear a headset when flying, it makes you feel less tired at the end of the day and it helps with the clarity of ATC communications.

What is your advice if I wanted to work my way up to a captain at a major airline.....What are they looking for? Do they want certain degrees or grades on your record?
airbusflyguy 1 month ago
@airbusflyguy In the US, a degree is a must. In Europe, most airlines don't actually require a degree but it will surely look better with one. Then, it's all about flight experience, a lot of airlines and operators ask for several thousands hours before you can even apply.
