Who knew instant whip had so much energy stored in it? Jane Arthur-Eaton from Helston Community College did, and she used it to demonstrate respiration the process of getting energy from food using oxygen.

Sprinkling the instant whip (pure sugar) onto candles gives out energy in the form of light and heat, whipping up a fireball in the school classroom!

  • HAH, they tell you not to do this unless your a trained pro, but then they show you instructions.

  • This is why any place that produces material in powder form on a large scale has to have measures in place to keep the dust down. Flour and corn mills, etc. If too much dust is in the air, an open flame could cause it to ignite and explode.

  • From what I can remember a lot of powders will do this. Custard, flour, I'd imagine icing sugar too.
