That story rocked!

He was too old schoolfor WWE. :) Well, there's a video on youtube where he talks about his WWE trial, and you'll get what I mean... He's a wrestler who plays to the crowd, not the camera, and he actually thinks the actions of his character through...

I don't mind the slap effects. The key however is to make it less noticeable so people don't catch on. Loved the story however and many young guys though are abusing it too much to the point they don't notice in taped shows that they get caught doing it in a bad angle.

@skinwalkerxxx No not at all, They were in Japan when such happen. They use a strong style over there which is why CW got heat for slapping his leg.

@feuledby madness...It was in a Face-Off he did w/ Terry Funk (I think,anyway)...In the story...Stephanie was pissed w/ him & "Wrestling",or something...& he tried 2 defend himself 2 her...& Dusty just motioned 2 stop him from continuing his argument 4 the Defense...So-2-speak...

yeah, I don't mind the self-slap trick to get extra noise, infact, imo, CW Anderson has a very very good one. I cant remember the pay per view, but there was one particular punch that CW threw at Kid Kash, and I swear to god, the noise he got out of that punch sounded like a bullet, it was tremendous. Dare I say, it was possibly the single best punch i've ever seen in wrestling. Kash went down like a sack of potatoes, and it looked highly impressive.

The Rock always used to slap his leg.

..continue. When the MCMG in TNA do it when a guy is sitting on the mat and they gave him a kick in the face while slapping themselves it gets a tremendous reaction from the crowd. Especially if they do it quickly. I think that CW Anderson was probably doing it badly.

Well that's because Foley wanted Orton to almost hit him for real.
But in most other circonstances that isn't the case.
I will say this though, i'm not a fan of a wrestler slapping himself on a regular basis-most wrestlers strike with the regular foot slam on the ground anyway. But on certain special occasions for special circonstances it can have a great impact.

I know a year passed but compare a regular punch to the punches that Orton did on Foley in the stairwell that left Foley a black eye. Those were REAL punches and the effects showed and you could hear the thudding silence of every punch connecting to his skull rather then using Orton's body to make that mimicked effect and hitting air. Foley told him to make it as real as possible and hit him as hard as possible to really sell it perfectly. Point being using slapping effects kill the look of it.
