Sean Wrona - 233 wpm TypeRacer race with 291 wpm captcha test score

I went through all the new "Pulp Fiction" quotes in order to add them to Noah Horn's TypeRacer database. Several of these shorter quotes look to be VERY fast on par with bloke, "Use the power...", etc... Obviously, this means if you make an error, you get ridiculously low scores, like my 130 wpm that immediately followed this... I also downloaded a video editor just now and cropped my video so you will notice that you no longer see the annoying CamStudio window at the beginning and end of all my videos, although I think it might have messed up the frame rate a little. After using that editor, this upload was WAY faster than any I have done before, which means I may be inclined to upload more videos. Probably not, though.

Today I set a new record of 136 wpm but after I failed the capture test so many times that I coulnd't safe it. Such stuff can only happen to me. by the way. Do you use the left pinky for the a, q or z key or is it varied? I have a german layout, there aren't many differences. But I have to use more caps lock for special characters which are used in english. It's not a big disadvantage isn't it.

@avoided2007 I failed the captcha test once myself, causing my 274 wpm score on the bloke test to be nullified. I usually use my left index finger for q, use either my left pinky or left index for a (it usually depends on whether I hit caps lock or not shortly before or after the a), and almost always use my left pinky for z.

I'm also on TypeRacer,, but I'm stuck between 80-95.. my best is 107.. Could you please tell me how can i increase my typing speed, as i've been typing at this speed for quite a long time now. Thanks

@yodude010 Do not necessarily use the same finger to type the same key. Speed through the easier words and take a little more time on the harder words to ensure accuracy. Always focus on the word after the word you are currently typing so there are no unnatural pauses in your typing. Use caps lock instead of shift to type capital letters to allow more flexibility in the hand that you would normally use shift with. Using Google Chrome improves your nominal scores on certain typing sites.

@Verification11 Yes. I think hitting [caps lock]letter[/caps lock] is more accurate than using shift for capital letters.

@arenasnow Use caps lock instead of shift? I've been doing this since I first learned to type when I was a wee lad. I've always thought that I could type better than my average (107) if I taught myself to use shift, but I always stuck with rapidly tapping caps lock out of laziness. Great to see you advise that!

i'm at like 75-85 words per minute, and i've been there for a couple of months now, and for some reason I can't seem to balance my speed with accuracy, I will normally get like 95% accuracy, but if i shoot for a higher accuracy, my speed will suffer greatly.. this sucks haha

@arenasnow ah thanks. I'll surely try these tips. Yeah, the main reason behind my speed is the accuracy, whenever i'm typing at good speeds, some word goes wrong. I'll surely try to be more accurate. And about the caps lock thing, it's quite difficult for me to get used to it as i'm already using shift key for capital letters. And yeah, i'm using google chrome.
