On a recent hike in the country we visited a Buddhist temple where Emily presented flowers to various statues of Jizo including a set of six Jizo (roku jizo) sheltered beneath a protective roof. I especially liked the tiny stone Jizo statues hanging from the roof and mixed in with several stone Daruma figures.
Ah, how I wish my early childhood adventures had been so fun. How hideous my formative experiences were compared to these celebrations. Gassho!

@melvinbrand I'm sorry to hear that you had such a rough time as a child. I hope that you are able to enjoy a happier second chance as a parent (assuming you are not already a parent). Thank you for watching and sharing with us. ~Kurt :-)

Jizo, protector of us travelers,
and children.
Great clip of how good everyday life can be.
Thanks

Hi Roger, Thanks for viewing and commenting. You are correct in noting the aspect of everyday life as our little Emily often stops to give Jizo wildflowers, leaves, pretty stones or whatever she likes while we are hiking. It's always the high point of our outing to see her gathering flowers into a small bouquet to lay at the next Jizo we encounter. Thanks again for commenting! -Kurt :-)
