These piano pieces were played on my senior composition recital by Charlie Berggren.
Program Notes: In the second semester of my sophomore year, I decided it would be fun and a challenge to try to write one short piano piece every week. I kept this up for about eight weeks, after which I assembled the pieces into one complete collection. I was influenced greatly by a couple of piano pieces on which I had worked, including "Three Fantastic Dances" by Shostakovich, and "Vision Fugitive" by Prokofiev. In this work, I also tried to explore different styles of writing. For example, I tried to capture the neoclassical style in some of them, and I used the gypsy scale and the whole-tone scale in others. I even based one of them almost completely on perfect fifths. The last two short pieces are my favorite ones, because I think they point in the direction that some of my future compositions might take.
I enjoy the second one the most very creative and expresses alot of things good job :)
