All mens from 16-60 years had to go to the volkssturm. Someone from my family was there.

both lack equipment, suited weapons, training and experience. forced to fight "until the last man"

Not really. Since it was introduced 1943, and was greatly used. It was lightweight and very cheap to make. A regular infantry could get one and kill a tank with 1 shot. A WW2 tank such as T34 could be knocked out easily. Plus those "nazis" helped us achieve alot in modern warfare today. They perfected the air to air missle system, laser guided rockets and alot more.
