She is one of the longest reigning monarchs in British history and has provided steadfast leadership throughout many years of trial and crisis. Her reign as seen the end of the British Empire and many drastic and far-reaching changes in British life. Through it all she has proven an invaluable anchor of stability and symbol of the history and traditions of the British nation. God Save the Queen!

No matter how symbolic it may be a monarchy in place gives you something to work with whereas, as the last German Kaiser said, once it is gone it is as hard to get back as virginity.
